| 1. Question: I have a street car with typical performance mods. Can I run it at an NEI event? Answer: Yes you can. To run a NEI TIME TRIAL you will need a helmet, long sleeve shirt, long sleeve pants, and a car that meets the prep rules. So basically you can come in off the street and run with us with no special equipment. We even loan helmets. To run a NEI wheel to wheel RACE you'll need a few more safety items like a full cage, full fire suit, fire extinguisher, and 5 point belts. 2. Question: I'm concerned about my nice street car. Whats the chances of wrecking it? Answer: Most people with nice street cars that want to participate in track events run the Time Trials. Basically a Time Trial involves driving at speed in the 3 twenty minute sessions provided during the day where no passing is allowed in the turns, only on straights. This is where you have fun and practice. At the end of the day 1 car is put on the track at a time and you get 2 laps to run your timed runs. Then later they give out trophies based on your fastest lap time in your class. So all in all Time Trials are pretty safe and the chance of messing up your ride is very minimal. Wheel to wheel racing on the other hand is an all out competition and there are risks of going metal to metal. 3. Question: How do I run a NEI event? Answer: 1. Join NortheastIron. 2. Get your race or time trial license from our hosting organization. 3. Make sure your car meets the rules. 4. Send in your dynosheets and car specs to get your NEI logbook. 5. Register for an event with the hosting organization and go have fun. 4. Question: What if my car doesn't exactly fit within the rules? Answer: You can submit a request for a waiver on certain rules. |
