| 2:00 Pm President John Hovde, called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. There were 11 members present. Ginny Eck made a presentation to Rex Cook of a picture taken im Medora for his 80th Birthday. Thanks Ginny. It was accepted by Dorvan Solberg as Rex was unable to attend due to illness. We had members who attended the World Show finals and got their picture in the Chatter: Clyde Krebs, Robbie Hansen and Bill Retterath. Clyde won money in the 2000LR Class. Good job Clyde. Zach Bahm competed at the National High School Finals and finished 4th in the Nation. He also competed at the NCHA Futurity in the Limited NP and Amateur. Good job Zach. Ginny Eck participated in a Tom Lyons cutting clinic in Miles City last April and a Les Vogt clinic this past summer. Brad Shaw qualified to the World Show in Team Penning and Sorting again this year. John thanked Dorvan, Ginny and Deb for a great job fund raising for year -end awards. We need to get more members to do this. John wanted everyone to give him their email address. Secretary read the minutes of last years annual meeting, Bill Retterath made a motion to accept them as read, Dorvan Solberg seconded, motion passed. Secretary then read treasurers report, Dorvan Solberg made a motion to accept as read, Brad Shaw seconded, motion passed. Secretary then read the 2008 show schedule and financial statement, then read the Year-End Standings and Awards report. Bill had question of Lexi Lopez had received her Youth buckle for 2007, Yes. Congratulations to all the winners. Deb Dwyer was appointed to Awards committee for 2009. Val Bahm then gave Nominating committee report. Dorvan, Bob, and Bruce agreed to be nominated again. President called for nominations from the floor. Dorvan nominated Ginny Eck. Val Bahm made a motion that nominations cease. Russ Mather seconded,motion passed. New directors are Bob Bahm, Dorvan Solberg and Ginny Eck. Bill Retterath, John Hovde and Darrell Chruszch term expires in 2010. Jim Neshem will be director in charge of nominating committee and get 2 general members to also serve. OLD BUSINESS Ginny Eck put a report of our Annual Meeting in the Wrangler and The Cowboy Chronicle. There was a photographer at the Medora cutting who made a CD of the cutting and gave it as a presentation at the Cowboy Hall OF Fame BOD meeting, will be available at the Banquet tonight also. Ginny also made up a spectators guide to cutting and Thank you's for all our sponsors. John and Ginny had the vests we had donated by Roper Apparel, embroidered with our sponsor's logos and we gave them to the Directors and some sponsors fro 2008. If we get more vests for 2009, Bob Bahm suggested maybe use them as Awards at the cuttings. NEW BUSINESS The shows for 2009 were discussed, John talked to Diane Vangsnes, they want to have a cutting, not sure about dates. Darrell Chruszch will host May 23&24. NCHA weekend will be June 6-7 in Huron, SD. ND State Fair Aug 1-2, Medora Sept 19-20, and membership again approved Miles City, Mt, April 18-19. Bob and Val Bahm are thinking about sponsoring a show. and Jim Nesham and Darrel Loftesnes will look into theState Fair building in Oct after Wise Men's Rodeo. There was discussion about having a cutting in Bismarck. Ginny Eck and Bill Retterath will check into costs at the fairgrounds. John read a letter from Darrell Dorgan and the ND Cowboy Hall of Fame. They thankded us for having the second annual Medora cutting and invited us to have another. Dorvan was asked by Harry Kerr if we would be interested in holding a cutting at the Bowman Fairgrounds new building. Stalls might be a problem, but look into this for 2010 NCHA weekend. Deb read a proposal from 3 Pines video productions regarding video taping our cuttings for 2009. Jeff Erhardt will get a proposal to the BOD and they will decide which to go with. Robby Hansen will check with Barb Halligan and see what SD does. OBJECTIVES FOR 2009 Bob Bahm reported that the NDHSR Asso. will be voting whether or not to have cuttings at the rodeos for the next 3 years. They have 3 options, have cuttings at all of the rodeos,have 3 cutting and a finals or no cuttings at all. We need to support the Youth cutters in our area, there were 10 girls and 5 boys cuttng last fall and we should get them to come to our cuttings, maybe hold the HS cuttings at our weekend shows. Bill Retterath suggested that we either raise the entry fees or get sponsor money to put added money into the 3000NH, 10000NH/NP, 5000NH/NP and 15000NH/NP classes. Clyde Krebs agreed to donate $200 per weekend show held in ND for the 3000NH class and made a motion that we find 3 or more sponsors for the other classes, Ginny Eck seconded, motion passed. Mac was the Turnback Horse of the year, Russ Mather was the most improved cutter of the year and Darrell Parsons won the Sprotsmanship Award. Ther was clarification of the rules for the 2-hand class. Only ring snaffle bits,(no shanks) or a legal bosal will be allowed. The meeting was adjourned at 4:25 PM. Deb Dwyer, Secretary. |
