There are lots of little tasks that go into putting together a contra dance. The following list outlines a few of the ways you might be able to help out. Please contact me at [email protected] to let me know how you would like to help, and I'll get you set up to do your job. You can sign up to help for just one dance at a time, or for several in a row. We'd like to keep everybody's job to 20 minutes or less per dance, so nobody gets burned out!
Publicity
-put up flyers near your home or workplace
-forward the e-mail notice to several friends (and send me their addresses
too).
-print out flyers and distribute to people who will put them up
-contact newspapers, radio stations, etc. to place event notices
-call people who don't have e-mail to make sure they know about the
dance
-maintain e-mail list and send out e-mail notice
-maintain this web site
Night of the Dance
-20 minutes of help with childcare during dance
-20 minutes staffing the "welcome table" during dance
-arrive early and help prepare the hall
-stay late and help clean up /close the hall
-pick up key for hall a few days ahead of time (in Canton).
-bring refreshments
-make announcements
-provide transportation for child care workers if necessary

-contact child care workers
-coordinate volunteer jobs and sign-up list
