This holiday is now commonly reffered
to as Midsummer
but, It is called Feill-Sheathain (Pecti-Wita),
Alban Hefin
(Druidic) and, Many other names depending
on the Tradition you
follow. Traditions following the Journey of
the Lady and The Lord
consider this a time when their powers are
at their peak. Many
reguard this as a Fire festival and celebrate
the triumph of
the sun.
Balefires are lit on Midsummer's Eve
for purification,
fertility and love. A good time for love and
healing magics as
well as communicating with the Faeries and
forest Sprites.
Throughout history Pagans and Witches
alike have and still
celebrate at outdoor locations like hilltops
or beaches, Where ever
there is a clear view of the sunrise. Normally
an all night vigil
is held with groups of people singing, storytelling
and, shareing
food and drink while enjoying the community
aspect of humanity
and nature. Sunrise offers the oppritunity
to gather energy from
the rising power of the sun. For Solitaries
it can very comforting
and moving to know that thousands are doing
the exact same thing
at the same time.
