| 20-8-2002 - Northbay unveil new board |
| This week sees the first outing of Northbay's new 'Groove series' concept board. The board, as ever, is based on the standard 'OCEAN Pro' series, but has been modified with three grooves (Channels) cut into the base of the the board. This modification is designed to alter the flow of water underneath the board, making it more stable across the sand. The principal behind the alteration is very similar to that used when designing car tyre treads, especially those used for wet road conditions. By channeling the water in a more uniform direction we hope that we will be able to eliminate 'side-skew' and make the board more responsive!!! The Northbay 'skunk-works' are keeping a tight lid on the exact dimensions of the new board and it's grooves, but we can tell you that there will be two parallel grooves with one smaller groove in the middle, all cut into the base of the board. Beach trials will be conducted in the next few weeks by Northbay's resident PRO Danny C, and possibly Rob S, if he can get there! And results will be posted, hopefully with some pictures, real soon!!
