Board manufacture
Each of our boards takes between three and seven days
to manufacture, depending on the level of design requested.
There are three distinct phases to construction

1- Base ( Cutting the board outline )
2- Shaping ( Curving the board at the front and rear )
3- Finishing ( Waterproofing and painting of the board )

The images below show a step-by-step guide to the birth
of a '
Northbay' Skimboard.

The base of the board is painted, then finished with fibre glass resin for increased scratch resistance.
Stage 3- All boards are finished in exterior gloss varnish, and are
embossed with the company name and web address! After
that you have the choice of just about any colour, design or
              finishing decals that you desire!
Stage 1- Sees us off to our local hardware store, for some exterior
'marine' plyboard. We then mark out the shape of the board
directly onto the ply. It can take upto 85 individual measurements
to get the boards symmetrical! The shape is then cut, sanded
              and prepared for stage two!
Stage 2 - Sorry! No pictures of stage two, as our curving technique is a
company secret! But the boards are left in the mould for 2-3 days
to create a symmetrical curve. A rocker of 3-7 degrees front and
rear can be achieved, according to your specification!
This is an 'Ocean PRO' model, finished
  our 'Bumble' design! It also
features the company logos, and in this
  case 'Sex-Wax' finishing decals.
Hard at work! The sanding
process can take upto 2 hours!
This makes sure the boards are
smooth and true!
We use a template to
   ensure that the curves of
       the board are symmetrical
The cutting process is carried out the
  old fashion way! Workmate and
  jigsaw!!
