| 12-10-2002 - Northbay check-out the BSA longboard Champs |
|
| Today saw the Northbay B-team venture down to Sunny sunny Scarborough for the BSA (British Surfing Association) longboard championships. After a slight detour, due to some truly appauling navigation on the part of Mr Thirlwell, the Northbay wagon finally pulled up in Southbay, to be greeted by some truly disgusting weather, but also some truly 'amped' waves!!!! After battling the tickets machine, the crew decided that food was the first priority! So the great pub adventure started! Four pubs later, and one helluva lot of "we don't like strangers round these parts" Type looks later, we decided the pub was a non-starter, so piled into the nearest fish-bar. All i have to say about that is....4.60 for Haddock and Chips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!nuff said! After we'd recovered from the culinary daylight robbery, it was across the pier to watch the surf comp! The surf was BIG! 10-12ft, breaking Southwesterly across the bay. Nice! The standard of surfing itself wasnt really upto much, the phrase "old geffa's in wet-suits" just about covers it, So we soon grew tierd of watching such poor surfing, So went elsewhere in search of ammusement. The next 1 1/2 hrs were spent at the sea-wall watching mother nature doing it properly. The waves breaking around the Castle must have been around 25-30 ft high, sending sray about 45ft in air! Impressive! There was just enough time after that, for Fully to buy some rock (3 for 1) and Neilly B to get a major stoke from his 2.99 'pump-action' BB gun (ahhh gotta love that Taiwanese quality) "DO NOT AIM AT MAN AND THE ANIMAL" Nice!! All in all, a very wet, but very cool day at the sea-side! quality! Keep skimming Neilly B. |

| Altough it doesn't look it from this shot, these waves were upto 10-12ft tall, or in other words, the height of Neilly B stood on Fully's shoulders! |
