Welcome to the Kiteboard department
Kiteboarding is widely regarded as one of the fastest growing and 'radest' sports on the Extreme
sports farm. The practice of being towed along (and up!) via one big mutha of a power-sail, is
certainly up there in the FUN stakes.
Well we at Northbay are always keen to be on the leading edge, and like to put our own little twist
in there for good measure!!! This is where our latest product line comes in! It's a kite-board, in that it's a board and is designed to be towed by a kite, but we've added a Wakeboard/Skimboard
twist!! So that insted of going out to sea, you're being towed along the beach break (like a on skim-board) and hitting the wake as it comes in (like on a wake-board). We're still working on a
name for this new twist, but for now, just imagine how much FUN!! It's gonna be!
We're planning an extensive R&D program for this new line, just as soon as the North Sea gets
somewhat warmer!!! And all going well, the boards, which will be known as the 'ZEPHYR'
series should be available mid-summer! But for now just take a look below at the features of our
latest prototype board the 'ZEPHYR 170' PRO!!!

As ever with Northbay's products, the
spec of the board is entirely up to you.
Size, rocker, dimensions, binding pattern,
colour and finish are all entirely your
choice!! Allowing you to adapt your board to the average conditions at your
local break!
The Prototype 'ZEPHYR 170' is, as the
name suggests, 170cm nose-tail, with a
swallow tail, and bi-lineal binding ports!
As ever the boards base is treated with
varnish, plasti-coat paint and two layers
of fibre glass resin.
Back to home
The new range of
boards will be known as the 'ZEPHYR' PRO
series, after the native
american word for a
' light and gentle
      breeze'.
Also a great RHCP's
song!!!
This shot clearly shows the influences
from kiteboard, wakeboard and skim-
board, that have been encorporated into
the design of the ZEPHYR Seris boards.
The board is also 'fin-ready', meaning
that should you want to use it in a
conventional wake or kite-board style,
all you have to do is 'plug-in' the fins, and
away you go!!!!
The image below shows a close-up of
the binding arrangment. In this case we
are using traditional two-wrap wake-
board bindings, with a rubber 'stomp-pad'.
The design of the board means that it is
also possible to fit kiteboard two point
binding, or if you really feel like snapping
your ankles off, snow-board style clip-in
bindings........not recommended!
