Keith Lederer

Background: Joined the A's in 2005 as a free agent out of the BVAL 18 + league. The former high school infielder played both second base and the outfield for the A's in his first season with the club.

Highlights: With the A's playoff hopes on the line Keith had his biggest game of the season, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs in victory over the rival SilverSox. He was the only A's player with two hits in a 7-3 loss  to AL Champion Cardinals. He started the season slowly, but went on a 8-game hitting streak that ended with a 1-for-7 showing in the final doubleheader that dropped his average just below .300 with a .297 mark. Though new to the outfield, he made several nice diving catches last season.

Role: Keith will battle for time at second base and is also expected to see action in the outfield. His strong second half leads the A's to believe he will be a .350 hitter this season that can be counted on to drive in runs from the early lower half of the order.
