Clinton Yeager
Background: Clinton played his high school ball at Cardinal Newman in Santa Rosa. After graduation in 1994, he went to Santa Rosa JC where he played part time for two seasons, but didn't handle being a reserve well, "My pride got in the way and I quit," said Yeager, who now regrets the move. Clinton now tries to pass on the lessons he has learned on and off the field to youngsters as a Little League coach. Still a kid at heart, Clinton enjoys comic books and displays his passion with a Captain America shield tattooed on his arm. He is an avid on-line poker player, who forsakes TV.

Highlights: A carpenter for 10 years, Clinton is close to getting his contractor's license. Yeager had two hits in each of the A's first three games.

Role: Clinton was drafted with the A's top pick to play center field. He put on fine display of power at the tryout, but has shown he is more of the line-drive leadoff hitter type of guy. He will be counted on to cover the ground in center with his young legs and be one of the A's better hitters, making contact and scoring runs.
