Match Reports:

Round One vs Revesby Workers 06/04/02  @ George Green.

The game started out a blrtzer with all the team working hard and doing a lot of passing which saw us keeping the action up the Workers end for most of first half.  There was still some confusion and bunching up but that soon ended when Thomas Hedle in his typical never say die form scored an offside first goal for Norths.

Eventhough the goal was disallowed it gave our team some get up and go with a fine legal goal five minutes before half time by Peter Kumar.  Peter again found a well of energy and ran away with another classic shot on goal to finish first half 2-nil. I wish I could say we tried in the second half but quite frankly we just thought our work was done and that two goals would do.  Well that was unfortunate because we let Revesby have a peak through the door and they took their opportunities for two goals.

The Score 2-2 Draw.

Man of the Match: Peter Kumar   .Goldstar

Roundup: I know it was our first game but Guys the game is not won till the final whistle blows,  we played like a different team in the second half in fact we didnt play in the second half and its a credit to our Goalie Dean Vezoso that the score was not higher for Revesby in what should have been a Norths outright win.

Round Two vs Bankstown Dragons 13/04/02  @ Middleton.

The game started out pretty much a carbon copy of the match agaist the workers the week before but this time the coach must have got the message accros because we kept the preasure on for the Dragons till the final whistle. In fact at one stage in the first half I thought our goalie would fall asleep as nothing came his way.  Troy (Goldenlegs) Lines looks like hes getting back on form with an opener goal in the first five minutes of first half.  It was great to see the team working like a team and using their brains to play an intelligent game, Joshua Morel and Mustafa Ahoud worked their hearts out on the day and I give them a much deserved well done.

In the second half Troy quickly came in with a goal that made the ball fly like a meteor into the back of the Dragons net within a minute of the start, Thomas Hedle as always kept the preasure on the Dragons and maintained his position at all times, Dalmond Toi played well in the second but it was Peter Kumar again who sped away with five minutes to spare that sank the final nail in the Dragons coffin with a fantastic goal to take it 3-nil at the close.  A word of thanks to Dean for a few great saves in the second half and to Leroy the Boot Belk for some great distance kicking and defence work.

The Score 3-0 Win.

Man of the Match: Troy Lines    Goldstar

Encouragement Award: Joshua Morel .

Roundup: I think we are learning now that we can only win as a result of our labour, if we play as a team and listen to the coach, learn and hone our skills then we win and guys its as simple as that! (Well Done now you have the taste keep it)

Round Three vs Panania RSL 27/04/02  @ George Green.

Thank goodness Dean was on the ball because he saved us from an embarrasing score had he not saved so many difficult point blank tries from a very sharp Panania.  WHAT HAPENNED?   After the great result in round two after a slow start and the excellent positive talk and training we had on the training night before this game, we played on Saturday like a disorganised rabble rather than soccer players.  Lets hope we make up for our lack of concentration and dicipline next week.

The Score 2-0 Loss.

Man of the Match: Dean Vezoso  Goldstar

Roundup: Guys we need to be a bit sharper and harder if were going to do anything decent this year, dont let agressive teams put you off the game.  We can overcome agression and tripping with smart playing.  Also if you dont learn to pass quickly you will soon learn how tired you can get on a full field.  On a final note we applide none of our skills or training we did and Panania took us to the cleaners!!

Round Four vs Padstow United 04/05/02  @ George Green.

Guy's again we failed to do anything meaningful, our training is simply not reflecting our match days.  Dalmond Toi and Mustafa were playing their hearts out and there was a couple of decent runs from Peter but until you guys learn to pass and charge forward you wont win.  It doesnt matter how good the goalie is because the simple truth is that if the other team gets through the goalie at dissadvantage.  Regardless there was some good saves from Dean but we played a shocker and the result was obvious.  Guys we either shape up or just relegate ourselves to traning fodder for the other teams.

The Score 5-0 Loss.

Man of the Match: Dalmond Toi  Goldstar  ( Dalmond keep it up, you really tried to get the ball up and made some great individual runs, Im very proud.)

Encouragement Award: Mustafa Aboud

Roundup: We need to sharpen up and play soccer, we are falling way too much and our kicking needs to improve; by the way a bit of passing wouldnt go astray.

Round Five vs Condell Park 11/05/02  @ George Green.

Guy's it was a hard game but we hung in for the long haul and thats what we need to do if we are going to do anything this year, a great game by Troy (GoldenLegs) Lines and Leroy the Boot.  Gabby played like a man possesed and this was good to see as I believe this year he may come out of the shell and play a good season of soccer.

Troy score one of the if not the best goal I have seen in the last three years as coach from any team in the comps, this goal was a great fast curved high shot from 5 meters outside the penalty box.  Well done Troy!! I wish you would go for those at every opportunity, you have a great gift but this year you have seldom used it.  Leroy played a great match, what more can be said for the boot except to say that if he wasnt there we would suffer tremendously.

Babak is coming out of his shell and playing some good soccer, he got stuck into Condell Park and was relentles in his attempts at halting their advance.  Mustaffa played well and has shown great dedication from word go.  Well done to all of you, I hope this is sign of a change in our attiudes.

By the Way Special mention to our great mate and true friend in Aaron Woodward who came to cheer us on, Well done ol mate great to see you at the game.

The Score 2-0 Win.

Man of the Match: Gabby Beehara

Encouragement Award: Babek Pei

Roundup: Keep at it and dont give up!!

Round Six vs Birrong 18/05/02  @ George Green.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!  What can I say, looks like the wiin against Condell Park last week was either a fluke or we just didnt play this Saturday.

I will be honest and say that I gave ourselves a slim chance of winning against a team like Birrong, that is not to say that they are unbeatable but they are a good side and given our past performances prior to last week I was doubtful.  What I didnt expect was to lose the way we did, now I know that some of you may think that you played well or OK but from where I was standing it was a different picture.

We hung back and didnt try and take the play to them, I saw a few of you talking and carrying on as if we had all the time in the world.  I saw some of you look at the play around you as if you were the spectators and generally when you had the ball you guys didnt do much with it.

Leroy and Troy tried here and there for Troy however it was now and then particularly in the last stages of the second half, Leroy you need to stop crossing the ball into our goal penalty box ol mate!  Just boot the thing out of the park if you have to but dont place it in front of goals.  Peter and Dalmond, guys you need to put in more get up and go, also for the whole team ; dont expect the goalie to be able to kick the ball half way down the field.  Move up and call for the ball so he has a choice.

A bad day and a very bad game!!  Lets get on with the job of playing soccer, if you want to play marbles or collect Pokemon cards then do it after the game not during.

C'mon lets get with it!

The Score 11-0 Loss.

Man of the Match: Should have been the Goal Keeper for the flogging he copped!! But no one stood out, sorry!

Encouragement Award:

Roundup: We had better get rid of this "They're better than us" rubbish and realise that the better players are the ones that do the job on the day and give it everything till the last whistle.
