Spencer
Spencer is a western district to the north of St James
and to the west of Town Centre. Kings Heath, an estate off the
Mill Lane was built before the 70s and also contains Kings Heath
Industrial Estate which holds a train holding depot recently
built. Dallington is a more upmarket part of Spencer with large
houses and Dallington Park, it's also home to a large Fitness
First centre on Poyntz Lane. Spencer mostly made up of council
houses and flats and therefore is quite a slum. On the Gladstone
Road and Harlestone Road, Spencer is just off Spencer Bridge Road
and is known for its rundown atmosphere.
Kings Heath is probably historically the worst estates of Spencer
and this was apparent heading into the year 2002 where police
eventually introudced a CASPAR project to try and rid high crime
from the area.
