Lumbertubs
The eastern district of Lumbertubs contains two estates, Lumbertubs and Lings. Both south of Thorplands and west of Blackthorn. Acessable from Lings Way, Lumbertubs Way and Billing Brook Road. Lumbertubs and Lings are both surronded by parks. To the north of Lumbertubs there is the Billing Arbours, to the south of Lings, Lings playing fields, and to the east of Lings; Lings Wood. Both estates have extremely high crime rates. An attack and robbery rate that is four times higher than the Northampton average, a burglary rate double the average and a crime rate nearly three times the average.
Both estates are deprived and the housing is typical of the eastern district which was constructed in the 70s and 80s. A series of subways, walkovers and rat runs and housing that is seemingly getting worst, Lumbertubs is the second most deprived area in Northampton. Crime was probably at its peak in 1998-2000 where it was second ranking in the whole of Northamptonshire, second only to Thorplands. Only this year, Lings robbery rates have already sky rocketed, Lings especially has been branded a 'no go area' by taxi drivers after a series of violent robberies throughout the past two years.
