Abington
Abington is a district to the east of central
Northampton. Built around Abington Park, a big park that is
surronded by Wellingborough Road and Park Avenue South. Abington
is a densly populated estate with a mixture of terraced houses
and blocks of flats aswell as big houses in the Ardington Road
area. Abington is one of the oldest estates in Northampton and is
home to Northamptonshire County Cricket Club at Wantage Road and
formally the County Ground for the Cobblers.
Abington Vale and Rushmere are both leafy suburbs to the south-east
of Abington, both of which have seen new housing built in the 80s
and 90s. Cliftonville is home to blocks of flats and two
hospitals [Northampton General and St Andrews] aswell as Norman D-Gate
Industrial Estate.
