Drabble. Frodo's thoughts after the destruction of the One Ring.

It was gone.
Frodo felt strange without it; like a kite untethered, or dandelion fluff ready to scatter in the breeze. He'd been aware
the ring had crept into him, but until Gollum ripped it away, he'd been spared the knowledge of exactly how deep it
went. Part of him wondered if Sam ached for it - he had carried it for a little while. He doubted it though; Sam still knew
the taste and smell of home. Even now, ashes clogged Frodo's memories.
He would not tell Sam, but losing a finger was a small loss compared to the ring.
