The NORTH AMERICAN SQUADRON is an association of individual naval living history organizations, each of which is dedicated to a dignified and historically correct interpretation of the 18th-century British Royal Navy.   Member units portray the Gallant  JackTars and Marines of various ship's companys who served in North America during the American War for Independance, 1775-1783.   Through educational programs emphasizing hands-on demonstrations, the North American Squadron seeks to create an intense interest in our nation's colonial maritime heritage.  Working in conjunction with the tall ships community and historic sites, our programs feature demonstrations of marlinspike seamanship, naval weaponry, food, clothing, and the role of Marines to name a few.  The net result is to illustrate and give the publick a better understanding of what life was like aboard a British Man-o-War.
