Mickey
The FIRST Rescued Kooikerhondje in the United States.
Mickey passed away on April 3, 2008 and is much missed!!! He is on the Norstar Memorial Website
and also has his own
Memorial Website
He was rescued in August 1995 when I was browsing through the City of Memphis Animal Shelter. He was on his very last day as they were going to euthanise him due to lack of space the next morning. I paid the adoption fee right then but had to wait all weekend to pick him up and it was a long holiday weekend. When I went to pick him up after the weekend, the vet had to drag him out of the adoption area until he saw me, then he started bounding towards me. It is a very good thing I found him since he is a very rare breed called a Kooikerhondje. I found a photo in an all-breed dog book that strongly resembled him so I started looking on the internet for information about that breed. I found that there was a Kooikerhondje club in Great Britain so I sent his photo to them. I received a letter back stating that he was a Kooikerhondje. Looking on the Kooikerhondje Club of Great Britain's website recently, I found some old photos of dogs possibly owned by Bill and Molly Yates, who imported the breed into Great Britain. I have only two questions, which are below.
Could this possibly be Father and Son??? Could they be closely related in some way???
