these are 2 pictures of the same piece. the left one shows a little better what the marquetry piece is actually of: a swiss village, and predominantly, castle oberhofen built in the 12th C. the right photo shows some grain detail.

my great-grandfather was very prolific. not only did he create dozens of marquetry pictures, he also created numerous picture frames, scroll saw shelves and a few coffee tables for wedding gifts.
