The Afterfall
Vance Robbins
(written on the streets of Trondheim)
It's an everyday occurance
To see hearts tumble down
But when there's no one there to catch them
They break when they hit the ground
But we pick up the pieces
And wipe the tears away
Put them back together
To break another day
The more we try to hold our hearts
The faster they will slip
And there's nothing that can help us
When we finally lose our grip
We can only wait and see
If our loved one feels the same
Or if they'll let our heart fall broken
As if it is a game
Then we think we've learned a lesson
And we promise to resist
But we find that it's impossible
To live alone and just exist
So when another tender moment
Crashes through the wall
We can only hope we won't be left
Living through the afterfall.
