SHAWNA'S SET REPORT

Written as expericed by Shawna

It was a pretty fall day, September 28th, 1998. This would be my first trip to Fort Worth, Texas. My mom and I were there on a week's vaction. We were aware that "Walker, Texas Ranger" filmed around there, but we weren't really looking for the set We arrived at the Fort Worth Stockyards around four o' clock that night. We just had a long hard drive from Nashville, Tennessee, which is about a thousand miles from Fort Worth.

Our first stop was at White Elephant Saloon, Where some scenes of C.D's Bar and Grill is filmed. White Elephant is a replica of a old 1800's bar. They have a small game room, with the shuffle board that was used in 'Right Man, Wrong Time'. They also have a pool table. On the wall, they have LOTS's of hats from Texan men. One of those hats is of Noble Wilingham. It's the same hat he wore in the show.

They also have a poster of Chuck holding playing cards. On one card is a picture of Alex, CD is on the middle card, and Trivette is last. Above Chuck is ways "Chuck Norris Deals the Action In Walker, Texas Ranger". It's a very cool picture!

On the beams heading toward the front of the bar, you seen pictures of the cast while they're at CD's, and a really nice one of Alex and Walker dancing. They also have a picture of Chuck Norris with Red Seagelle. Once you get up front, they have a disply board with pictures of 'Right Man Wrong Time', a news paper clipping of 'Walker, Texas Ranger', Chuck reading a news paper, and serval other pictures of Walker filming in the Stockyards. Including a picture of Chuck and a little boy. The boy was from Make A Wish Foundation, and Chuck had him on the set for a day a few years ago.

White Elehant is not like C.D's. They don't server food. They server beer, whiskey, rummy coke, bar coke, coffee and peanuts.(Which we have seen in Walker) The coffee comes in see though glass cups. The cups are very cool, but they aren't like the C.D's cups we see. The coke and beer glasses are the same as C.D's.

We stayed at White Elephant for a few hours listening to the live band that plays country music every night and then we headed off to our motel room for a good nights sleep.

Next Day--September 29th,1998

We were up early, looking forward to seeing the sights and sounds of Fort Worth. Our first stop today was the Drug Store, which is right next to the White Elephant. The lady who runs this is the mother of Russell McVern, who is the head security for 'Walker'. They have all kinds of 'Walker' Cast and Crew things. T-Shirts is every size and color you can imagion, Hats to match the shirts, coffee cups, water bottles, and insulated Coffee Mugs for your car. They also sell the Walker and Alex dancing photos. A really great one!

We had planned on going ice skating next, which is in a big mall downtown Fort Worth. We passed the court house where Walker films at and there were all kinds of cars over there. We kept driving, thinking nothing of it. After all, it is a court house, we'd expect that. We went to the mall, and we were getting ready to pay for ice skating when I turned to my mom and told her I wanted to go to Billy Bobs.

Needless to say, she was really confused. Billy Bob's is a huge dance club/rodeo area. There's nothing there. They have dancing and country music at night, but that's it. Anyway, I wanted to go there right there and then.

Giving up on why I wanted to go, mom went back to the car, and we drove the few miles back to Billy Bobs. I just had a feeling about it I guess. To this day I don't know what made me want to go back there. I believe it was faith.

We got to Billy Bob's Texas and found out that 'Walker' was filming there. Rick, a secuity guard for Walker explained that it was a closed set, meaning that no fans were suppose to be on it, for the fact that it was all indoors. We were fine with that. We didn't expect to get on any way. We asked Rick if he could get our Walker things we brought back to Chuck so that he could sign them. Rick was more then happy to do so. He said he'd be right back.

We waited for about five or ten minutes. Finally, we saw someone coming. It wasn't Rick. I couldn't believe it when I saw Chuck coming right toward me. This was something I dreampt about for a long time, and never thought it'd happen. My mom, who is really shy, decided to go back to the car. Poor mom...

Chuck came up to me and greeted me. I was really neverous and excited! He handed me all of the Walker things I sent back, all of them were autographed. He asked what my name was. I guess he could tell how nervous I was! He asked if I came down there looking for the set and I told him we wern't really looking for the set, nor excepting to find it. I just wanted to see where the show was made. He smiled and asked if I'd like to watch them film Walker.Of course I said "Yes!". He lead be back to where they were filming at, and told me basicly what the epsoide was about. The ep was called 'Eyes Of A Ranger' Lila McCann and Micheal Peterson guest stared in it.

Chuck picked up a chair, and sat it right next to the carma, so that I had a front row view for every thing. They filmed the concert scene with Lila McCann singing. Then they cut after getting that right. While they sat up for the next scene, Chuck took me around to meet everyone. The whole cast and crew were wonderful, including Lila and Micheal.

Next scene was the fight in the locker room. I got a chance to meet Jimmy Wleck (Trent) after the fight. Chuck did his own stunt in that scene.

The day was winding down, and the time came when the filming was over for the day.I was kinda disappointed, knowing never again will I get a chance to experiance this again.

While they were packing the equiment up, Paul, who works in the crew came up to me and told me Chuck personally invited me back to see a whole day of filming. I said good bye to the Chuck and other's I'd met on the way out.

I was up at five the next morning. We stopped at a gas station and got a cup of coffee, before meeting Clyde (A carma man) on the set. He told us to help our selfs to the breakfast they had (Coffee, donants, eggs, bacon, and biscutes). Chuck was still in the make up room, but they'd be ready to start soon.

Steaphan, Chuck's personal assiant, set up another chair right by the carma. This time, they were doing the rodoe scean. We started out with Walker coming though the side door. Sherre was sitting up in the stands, and Clarance, Noble, Lila, and Micheal were all standing behind the carma. Every one greeted each other and took their places.

Chuck went down the steps, and said his lines with Micheal. Sheree came over and said her lines. They called cut, and everyone had to start over. As Chuck headed back up the steps, all the cast members started to laugh at him. Chuck looked around like "What'd I do?" He really looked bewilded. Sherree stoped laughing at him long enough to tell him he had a pieace of paper stuck to his boot! It was a page of the script he was suppose to be studing. Chuck smiled, and picked the script up.

The re did their lines serval times before heading to the bull riding.

Chuck did all of his stunts in this show, except for actually riding the bull. This his stunt double, Chip did that. He did climb a seven foot latter, jump off the top of it, and flip once, landing on his knees. This was filmed and added into the show as Walker falling off the bull. Chuck did this three times before getting it right.

Chuck also sat on the bull in the pen, which they filmed that part.

Some of the crew members decided to fool around. One jumped in a barrel that the rodeo clowns use. He said "I always woundered what one of these things were like." Chuck ran over to him, hitting the barrel, knocking it down. He then rolled it across the area. "This is what it's like with a bull after you." Chuck smiled. We all laughed!

It was lunch time. We didn't have a cheft then, so Lunch was the same as breakfast....Biscutes, bacon, and eggs. Chuck went to the little restaunt Billy Bob's had and got a Grilled Chicken Sandwhich, Mayo only, and he had a small coke. Mostly he drinks water and tea.

I was very impressed with this vist. I'll never forget it. It was a dream come true. Chuck Norris is a one of a kind man who really cares about his fans. He gives you his undivided attention when you're talking to him. He listens to what your saying. He doesn't intrup, or try and brush you off. After this meeting with Chuck, I will always respect him, and will always be a huge fan of his.

Now, it is time for me to vist the set once again. I can't wait. I am really excited! I sure hope this is as good as last time.

March 13, 2000

I had gotten permission to vist the Walker studios in Farmer's Branch, Texas while they were filming. Gordon Dawson had called and arranged it for me. I was really excite. I got Chuck a cermaic Indian thing for his birthday. It was the cheif with all the little children sitting around the fire. Two wolf pups were playing by the children. I also got him a card. It had a list of compliments such as (Loyal, Truthful, Nice, Honest, Pizza, Great, Wonderful, Special, Talented, Commented, Trustworthly, Dedicated, OutStanding...) When you fliped over the card, it was more compliments much the same...Then it had Snoopy sitting on his dog house and it said "I didn't run out of Compliments, I ran out of Card!"

I was all ready to go. Had my gift and my carma. I was excited. We drove straight though, even though we had car trouble. We got to the set around 9 am. They were filming "Showdown At Casa Diablo Part 1" This was the last day for Part 1. I met Nancy Cunningham, who is in charge of the set at the studios. She was really nice. She showed me around the office and offered something to eat. We then went back to the set. Chuck was filming a scene. Walker, Gadge, and Trivette are undercover. The bad guy is questioning Walker, who plays Wade while undercover. He asks what ranch Wade worked at and so forth. Walker has a funny line in this take... They finsh the dialoge part, and then Walker gets into a fight with Gadge and Trivette, kicking their butt. The bad guy breaks them up and says to go home and get a good night's rest.

Chuck came over to talk to me once the cut. He wrapped his arm around me and talked about where we came from, the drive down there. He mentioned flying to Nashville for the ShootOut that aired on TNN, and he said they flew up to Johnson City, Tennessee to do some filming. I gave him my gift, which he sat down in his directors chair. It wasn't enough time to open right then and their. He asked if I wanted a picture taken with him. I was very happy to have a picture! He was really nice and caring. He seemed like he really cared for his fans and you knew you had his undivid attention while you were talking to him.

By the time this was done, it was time for lunch. Chuck came over and said hi. We talked for a while on the way out back where they were cooking.

He told me about going to LA Wed. and Thurs. (3/15/00-3/16/00). He had a award to accept and then he was going to be on Donna and Maria with Gena and Gabille(I think), he's little granddauther. The ep is going to be a Mother's Day one.

We got our lunch, Citrus Grilled Cob, Broclie and Cheesee, and a salad. I sat with Judson, Nancy, and other cast members. Chuck and Clarence ate in their trailors. Sherree and Nia weren't there. We had lemon pie, smoothies, and shakes for dessert.

After lunch, I got a tour of the whole studios. I took a picture of Walker's stairs, which leads no where...and the front porch, WHAT A MESS!! (lol), and also of C.D's Bar. They still had Christmas things in there. (No, I didn't take pictures of the mess.. Only the good parts.) I took a picture in Walker's desk. And on his sofa. The lamp with the deer antlers is back. Alex's lamp is GONE, and the living room is COVERED in dust. The floors, the sofa, the tables, the dresser, the lamp.. ALL OF IT.. Really needs cleaning. I took a picture of the hall that leads from the kitchen to the living room. That was the cleanest part. The kitchen was really a mess. They had pans on the floor, on the counter, in the sink, on the oven. All you saw was the pans. Ranger Headquaters was pretty nice. The coffee only looked a few days old, not too bad...The desks were really clean. This could be because they were filming in there that day. Now...The worst part of the whole 'ranch'...WALKER'S BEDROOM!!!! It wasn't there.. Looked like a tornado hit it... lol. The bed had no sheets or blankets what so ever. It was sideways againts the way.. The box springs were upside down across the room. Curtins were ripped off the window. Dressers was up set. Clothes were EVERYWHERE.. Mirror that was SUPPOSE to sit on the dresser was all the way across the room, laying face down. You couldn't even walk in there. I sure do feel sorry for who ever needs to clean THAT up. They had the hospital rooms that were clean, but the crew all found a bed to sleep in. lol.

During break I went into Ranger Headquaters and Judson was sitting in Sydney's desk, sleeping. Guess he was wore out too.

Judson is very sweet. He's laid back. He doesn't talk until he's talked to...Then he won't shut up! lol. (That's fine by me.) He's really good looking. Married and has a little son, about three or four. Very good to his boy. Chuck introduced us and we started talking. I told him I was from Tennessee. He said he lived in Virgina, so we kinda touch there, we aren't really that far apart. He made a point of stopping and talking to me every chance he got after we first met. Chuck, he just came up and GRAB me! Then started talking to my mom, who was standing next to me. I was like, Wait, where am I going? He kept his arm around me while we all talked. He opened his gift and card. The card was first to be opened. He read it and was smiling while he went though the compliments, then REALLY laughed out lound when he read "I didn't run out of compliments, I ran out of Card." They were filming while he was laughing, so they had to stop and do a re take. Chuck yelled out "I want you all to know what kind of Exculitive Producer you have!" then he read the card out lound. Everyone laughed. Chuck said he was going to put that in his office. He really seemed to like it. I felt bad that they had to stop shooting because Chuck opened his card, so I told Chuck I didn't mean to get him in trouble.. He said, I am the boss. I can't get into trouble. They started filming again, and Chuck opened his gift. He was making a little noise at first and said "Am I making too much noise?" They said "No, your okay, Mr. Norris." so Chuck started REALLY ripping up the paper, making as much noise as he could. He said "How about now?" They had to stop filming AGAIN. I told Chuck that he was going to get me into trouble. He said You can't get into trouble. You know the boss. I said "I do?" He said "You do now."Chuck opened his gift and said "WOW!" He was really impressed. He was like "I never saw any thing like this before. I love it! Thank you!" He got up and gave me a kiss (WOW!) and a hug. I wished him a happy birthday and he thanked me again. He went back to filming, and the crew made him a BIG Birthday Cake. They all sang Happy Birthday to him. I got to walk up there when they took the cake over to him. We all took a break and had cake and coffee. It was a yellow cake. Really Good. I took a picture of it and will put it on here as soon as I get it scanned.

They took a break from filming. Chuck had a capiannco blast from Starbucks that he was drinking. A few of the crew members started drinking from it. Chuck came back and clarence was standing next to the drink. Chuck said "hey, what happened? I left and this was full. Now it's only like half full. you all were drinking from it weren't you. Of course everyone denied it. Chuck took another sip and sat it down. Clarence picked it up. He said "Chuck.. Hey, Um Chuck.. Can I hace a sip of this. " Chuck looked at him for a minute and stayed silent, not saying anything. Clarence kinda looked like "What did I do?" Then Chuck said sure, why not. Every one eles has. "Oh thank you." Clarence said. He drank a sip. "Go ahead and pass it around." Chuck said. Clarence smiled and did so. After going around the studios, he Chuck finally got it back. Wasn't much left, but we all had a good laugh over it.

They were filming the last two scenes for the day. The first one Trivette got a call from a woman who was working undercover with the drug ring. (Clarence REALLY messed up his lines. He couldn't get her name right, then he started stuttering with the lines. Really funny. Poor Clarence.) Trivette told her Walker wanted her to back out. It was too dangerous. She said the guy trusted her, it was ok. Walker came in, and Trivette told him what she said. After it was cut, Chuck said "Your gonna be a dead gal, dead gal I tell ya. I told you to back out, but did you listen, no, you wouldn't listen to me. Your gonna be a dead gal.. Should have listened to me. I warned you what was going to happen. They got that scene done, and then it was the last scene. Alex comes in, bags packed. She said she's going somewhere (I forget). Walker doesn't want her to go. Alex says she'll be fine, after all, Sydney was going with her. They'd have a great time. The Capitian comes in and convinces Walker to let her go. Walker says "Ok, but not ok." Sydney comes in, she's ready to go. Alex gives Walker a kiss on the cheek from a friend of hers, then kisses him on the lips. That was from her. She leaves. The scene is done. Chuck yells after her. "Your gonna get kidnapped AGAIN...and I am going to have to come and find you, AGAIN. You should have just stayed here. That was the end of Part 1. We were done for the day...Next day was Part Two..

March 14, 2000

This was the second day for me on the set. The first day of filming for "Showdown At Casa Dialbo, Part 2

Chuck was following Chip (his stunt double) when they went though some lighting equiment. Chuck lightly pushed Chip and said "Come on, hurry up." Well, Chuck tripped over a light. He went down, the light went down, the tree next to it went down, Chip went down...lol. Poor Chuck. He felt so bad. He was like I was only playing, Chip. I didn't mean it. I am sorry. I didn't push that hard. I am really sorry.

Clarence came up and introduced him self. We started talking. He said he loved my voice. (It's a mix of southren and northern accent). He said it was really pretty. We were talking and he said he went to a Sting concert the other night. He had fun, but it was lound. Chuck came up and said "Yeah, that's all it is. Lound noise."

Next was the tour of the wardwrob department. LOTS of clothes. Then it was lunch time. We had spaggitte, grilled chicken, meatballs, raviolie, and two kinds of sause with garlic bed.

Next they filmed a scene where Walker tells Gadge he's going to find Alex. Gadge wants to go. Sydney was his partner too. Walker says "I said I am going alone." That was that. The only did that a few times and that scene was done.

Then they did a court house scene, filmed in Ranger Headquaters. The capiton said the bad guys who kidnapped Alex wants their buddy released. The capiton thinks that if they release the guys buddy, they will let Alex and Sydney live. Walker doesn't believe it. He said there's no promises. It's best to track down these guys.

When I said good bye to everyone, Nancy brought in A LOT of pictures. I got Sherree pics, Clarence Pics, Chuck pics, and cast pics. She said save the cast pics...They are going to be collecter items being that Noble will never again be in Walker.

She also gave me the script to Countdown, autographed by Chuck, Sheree, Noble, Clarence, Judson, and Nia.

The Walker family is really close. They care for each other and they care for the fans. That's easy to see, and it's one thing that makes the show so special to us. I was really lucky to have had the chance to spend two days with them and have gotten to really meet everyone. I really felt like part of them when I was there.

Walker is a one of a kind show in it's own way. And as Chuck had said, it's more then a seris. No wonder Walker has touched all of our hearts. The cast is like no other on any set. It's a true expericace to be able to spend the day hanging around. It's something you wouldn't be able to do with anyone eles, nor would you ever forget it.

Please check back. Pictures will be added soon
