| My Randomly Flavored Rants I PERSONALLY DISLIKE HALLOWEEN. NOt to discredit John Carpenter or anything I just really didn't find the movie shocking, or very scary for the most part. It really didn't have much going for it exept the score. I think that the only thing that actually made the movie frightning at all, is the use of the HALLOWEEN score. It is a genuinly frightening song and could add tension to almost any scene. I think that it on a whole is rather forgetable and that the only reason that it spawned a franchise is that the score and not the movie scared people. Yes, it was one of the first slashers, so at the time it was most likely a new thing to be seen, but after countless imitations, and better movies I don't think that it holds up. I do think though that if watched in conjunction with the second it becomes a better movie because I actually enjoyed that one of the series. The rest of the sequals should be forgotten. So to John Carpenter I congratulate him for making a great score and for making a slew of other great movies, but I find Halloween to be his second worst, just behind Escape from LA. All the rest I like. So for all of the people who disagree I say to try and find anything special about it that hasn't been done better since. And to not declair it the greatest slasher ever just because of it being first. Also someone should help me with reviews. A partner would be cool. |
