WES CRAVEN'S
           NEW NIGHTMARE

                             4 Cheeses

This is going to be a mini-review of sorts.

I've just finished watching this for probably the 4th time and I'm
finally going to talk about it.

Plot: Heater Lanekamp (Spelled Wrong)  who played Nancy
in NOES 1 and 3, returns but as herself and not Nancy. It
seems that Freddy wants into the real world, and He's going to
try and get at Heather through her son, Dylan. Random nightmares,
and a small amount of violence ensues.

My Stuff: In my humble, always correct, opinion, this was a good
movie. I think that after 6 movies of Freddy slashing up random
teens that he needed some originality to the series. The whole, Movie
inside a movie element is intruduced here to good work. A really cool
scene happens when Wes Craven is talking to Heather about making
a new NOES movie, and everything they say is appearing written
in the script on Wes' computer, then it says "FADE TO BLACK"
and it does. It's just so cool.

Because the movie is set in real life the characters get to play
themselves, and this lends to the believability as you raelize that
they aren't characters. This helps because the whole movie
everyone thinks that Heather is crazy.

Though the plot is arguably the most original of the series, some people
might be dissapointed. People lokoing for gore will be saddened, only
three people get killed. Also the SFX aren't that good at some
times. But if one can overlook these faults, you can see that
NEW NIGHTMARE is more than just a stupid rehashing sequal.
