| THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (2003) HE CAME, HE SAWED, and LEFT 4 CHEESES It seems that the trend of making remakes has put out some rather quality movies in the last years. DAWN OF THE DEAD, was good, and so was the new TCM. I didn't really like the first TCM that much, I thought most of the characters were too stupid and deserved to die. Now this sounds horrible, but the best part is when the annoying guy in the wheelchair gets it. That's how annoying he is. But in the new TCM I actually felt bad for the characters, mostly Jessic Biel's character as she's rather attractive, and the heroine. But i felt bad for her friends because they all got it worse than in the original. Another thing is unlike most recent slasher movies, this doesn't have stalk scenes it has chases. Running screaming and runing, and screaming , and chainsawing. It's the constant tension brought on my the films no holds barred attitude that makes you tense. You don't know if anyone will actually live or not. Also the new leatherface was better than the old. He is now a scary freak who wears human skin, instead of just some clumsy idiot who does. The bad thing is that he doesn't dance in this one. All the previews play off the idea that TCM is based on a true story, but that's just a marketing ploy. The movie even says in the credits that all the stuff was made up. But the way the movie begins and ends with police footage, really is cool. On the bad note, any of the mental horror that was present in the first is gone, replaced by just chasing, and sawing, and random scary stuff. OVERALL I was creeped out by TCM 03 and enjoyed it. Though not original, I think that it is an overall really good movie, and worthy of the TCM name. |
