| DRACULA 2000 3 Blood Sucking Cheeses Characters: Matthew Van Helsing: The original Dracula hunter Simon: His help guy who is trying to save Mary Mary: Van Helsing's daughter who Drac's trying to find Dracula: As if you already don't know who this is Plot: Dracula is resurrected by a bunch of theives and he feels like finding Mary, his part daughter and turning her into a vampire. Van Helsing, who has been using Dracula's blood to stay alive for the past 100 years chases him, Simon follows, and becomes a vampire killer. A bunch of vampiric seduction scenes, violence, and crazy camra work soon follows. That's really about all of the plot there is cause the movie is entirely about, vampires seducing people, then soon afterwards someone getting beheaded. Thought the writters did add a new spin on the dracula legend with him having been the man who gave Jesus up to be crucified, and when he tried to kill himself for his sins he wasn't able to die. It explains his whole hatred of the church deal and the silver stuff. SFX The special effects all look better than you'd expect from a Dimension studios film, the budget must have been higher than most. The computer animation is solid. The occaisional BULLET TIME shot also works well. Also the vampires eyes turn all CGI red and it looks pretty cool. Gore: A bunch of random behaedings Some impalings Vampire bites Stabbings Blood splatters What I learned: By injecting yourself with Dracula's blood you'll become immortal Vampires are BULLET TIME masters The Wes Craven Presents series has actually 1 goood movie By adding 2000 to a title you destroy any need for a title to make sense Bottom Line: In short Dimension has actually produced a watchable movie that doesn't try to insult the viewers intelegance. I provides one with a highly passable Vampire movie that adds new ideas to the whole Dracula myth. Dracula 2000 shows us that it's ok by having characters who don't go out of their way to bother us and has a few good reh scenes. The action is well done and it is a solid movie. A very good movie for these long boring days of summer. |
