General Information:

My father was a mechanic and I also found out from an independant mechanic that a car that has overheated will probably have the head gasket leak or go out all together.  Overheating is caused by a bad radiator or the cooling fan not turning itself on.  (1998 Dodge Neon's had a recall on faulty wiring that would cause the car to overheat.  More on this at the first link).

I was told by Chrysler that they handle this head gasket problem on a case-by-case basis.  I was also told from the Chrysler service dealer that Chrysler had covered about $580.   I was quoted $800 for the repair from my independant mechanic.  I'm not going to complain about saving $700!  Some customers were quoted $1200 by Chrysler!  $100 makes me feel blessed!
