Election 2008 - New county board face assured
Two candidates are seeking the Republican nomination for the District 2 seat on the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners.

Current District 2 representative Mark Walter, a candidate for Sheriff, is not seeking re-election, meaning a new face will be part of the county board.

HEINERT: Engage industry in an inclusive process to develop needed non-municipal public infrastructure. HEINERT: To me it’s simple, follow the rules and the law. They are clear and unambiguous. HEINERT: Communication and cooperation with neighboring counties is very important, not only Grand Traverse but Benzie also. Many critical areas transcend geopolitical boundaries such as emergency service, non-municipal public infrastructure and natural systems. Leadership should be strong Leelanau advocates in all regional forums while maintaining autonomy and our vision.
SCHAUB: Working with other counties is beneficial on some programs. However, each proposal would have to be looked at for individual worth.
