Poetry about War (Nov. 2001)
After 2nd-grade-students read some of Anne Frank's
diaries, they wrote poems about war. They expressed what they thought about war.
1) War is a crime against humanity.
We should use peaceful means to
create a society
that is democratic, free of economic, racial, and sexual
oppression.
2) War is a sad fight people bring about.
War is a fear
for all of living things.
War continues still.
3) War is
nonsense.
Only human beings kill each other.
It's really
nonsense.
4) War is our enemy.
Many people were killed by
war.
War is an enemy of freedom.
5) War is over.
War is not
necessary.
War is the worst.
6) War is sickness.
Peace is
spirits.
Which do you prefer?
7) War is a hate.
War gives us
loneliness, sadness, anger.
No one feels happy by war.

last.
There's nothing left after war.
Last war is my favorite
song.
9) War is a time to destroy and slaughter.
Never disappear war
from the earth.
"Peace" is not recorded in the earth's dictionary
yet.
10) War is cruel.
It makes us sad.
Nothing is left if you

If war begins, I must run to safe
