Musical Director: POSITION VACANT : Please direct all enquiries to, Maureen Hanke, Norfolk County Council Music Services.
The Norfolk Youth Orchestra was created to provide an avenue for young players to have the opportunity to extend themselves musically, to explore music that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to rehearse and perform, and to experience aspects of music making that might otherwise be closed to them, such as conducting.
Entry to the NYO is by meeting the following set criteria:
* Aged 18 years or under as at 1st September
* Have attained Grade 5 or above on 1st instrument
* Reside in the County of Norfolk and/or East Anglia
PREVIOUSLY the School of Music,University of East Anglia, Norwich, kindly donated its premises for the purposes of rehearsal. It is anticipated that future rehearsals will be at the HEWETT SCHOOL, CECIL ROAD, NORWICH. Previous rehearsals took place six (6) times per academic year, September to July, running from 10am to 4pm and again it is anticipated that this will be repeated by any new conductor and new administration.
Members of the orchestra receive:
* Free masterclasses
* Sectional rehearsals
* Full orchestra rehearsals
* Conducting classes
There is a small 15 per year charge for membership of the NYO per person.
Contact Maureen Hanke, Norfolk County Council Music Services for details on joining the orchestra.
