Couldn't have asked for a better first day of games. The games got tougher as the day went on but everybody played with a lot of heart, and that is to be commended. Best of all, not alot of bitching was heard. The first game between the PASSIONS and SHARKS was high intensity through the whole game but the PASSIONS balanced scoring (everybody that suited up scored) prevailed, 59-38. The SHARKS did win in the personal foul category 12-3. The PASSIONS high scorer was Jun Madera who hit 2 threes and finished with 12. Emmet Forbes carried the SHARKS most of the way with 21 of the teams 38 points.
Game 2 featuring UNITED and the RAPTORS was a hard fought contest but UNITED's team experience and Joy Arenas's domination underneath was too much as they went on to win, 59-43. Arenas went off for 26 points and Nat Fuller of the RAPTORS scored 17 to lead the RAPTORS.
Game 3 featured the RED STORM and the DOPE SQUAD. The RED STORM was up by 16 during one point of the game but DOPE SQUAD showed alot of heart in the second half by battling back to within 5 before foul shots put the RED STORM up for good 54-46. Three players scored double figures for the STORM (Joe Flores 15, Ant Bynum 13, Chev Zaporteza 10 including 3 threes). The DOPE SQUAD was led by Rob who had 13 points with 1 three and Jerome who had 11 (5 for 7 from the line).
The final game was sloppy but exciting nonetheless. SKYHIGH defeated the G STARS 41-38. SKYHIGH held the G STARS scoreless for the first few minutes but the Hampton team showed determination by playing tough defense and forcing turnovers but a couple of big buckets by SKYHIGH put the contest out of reach. Skyhigh was led in scoring by Lee Harrelson with 9 point including a three but the scoring was well balanced. G STARS were led in scoring by Willy Dasal 12 points and BJ Macalino 10 points including 4/5 from the line.
It was a fun day of basketball but with a little bit more practice to get the rust out, the games will only get tougher. |
