As much as we love living in America there are laws some people despise. Like speeding. Or picking up your dogs crap in the park. Or getting blazed in public (or anywhere). Likewise, with this League, players and spectators alike will hate some of the rules in The General Rules and Guidelines. Most notably the rules on height limitations, two Non-Asians per team, and/or only captains can dispute calls. There are VARIOUS reasons for ALL the rules (which I can't get into right now, but if you wanna hear what I gotta say then holla at me). And in order for this league to be a success the rules must be obeyed. As much as it pains me to have a height limitation, it is necessary this year because of the nature of the league... Asians very rarely grow over six feet tall. Although height is not the most important thing in basketball (speed and balance are more important) players that are just begining to get a feel for their team (as is the case with some teams in the league) that lack a big man in the middle have a decided disadvantage. This rule will DEFINITELY be gone next season. But as far as this season goes, it is the responsibility of the teams to ensure that all their players are SIX FOOT OR UNDER. Players will also be measured before the season starts by the League. This rule is not a joke. So don't test it. ALSO, i shouldn't have to mention this since we are all adults but please do not dishonor ANYONES family by saying they are Asian when you damn sure know they aren't. Please don't compromise the integrity of the league. If teams start lying just to get a player in then we might as well SHUT THIS THING DOWN RIGHT NOW. Keep in mind all you wannabe-thug-rule-violators: if you wanna speed, go to Germany; if you don't wanna pick up your dog's crap, live on a farm; if you wanna blaze with no problems, go to Jamaica; and if you wanna bend any of the NAABL's rules go play in another league... Just don't sh!t on our rules. If ANYONE would like a copy of the General Rules and Guidelines, please feel free to contact the League Director, [email protected].

ALL SPOTS FILLED...(for now)
Hallelujah... I have finally contacted all the teams and received verbal commitments from all of them. I will list them all on this web page as soon as I get word of their official names. If by September 5 (due date of fees) a team does not wish to participate anymore I will immediately refer to a waiting list I have created and ordered according to who contacted me first expressing interest. If your team would like to be added to the list or you would like to know your position on the list email [email protected]. To all the teams that found out about the league too late, I apologize. Word-of-mouth was the method I used to recruit teams and I only have one mouth and this meager website. If your team does not participate this year, hopefully you will still show support for the league. Maybe we can even start reserving spots for next season. We plan to expand the league next season and withdraw the height limitations. Everyone's interest and support is appreciated and can only increase the succcess of the league now and in the future.
WANTED: DJs $50 per hour
Just playin... we still need DJs, though. Increase the hype. Don't be a follower. Do something new and different. After this jank blows up you'll be sayin,"Damn, I coulda been the first DJ to rip it up at the NAABL." And to all you keepin' it real underground DJs: around here it don't get more real and underground than DJn for a righteous cause in the community. You won't get paid, so you won't be commercial... C'mon... don't be scared.
MANDATORY TEAMS MEETING
Hey everybody... There will be a MANDATORY meeting for all the teams participating in the league. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 7 at 7:00 P.M at the ODU Webb Center Main Cafeteria. It is absolutely necessary that AT LEAST ONE member of each team attends, but all interested players or parties are welcome. Mr. Smith from the Southeastern Virginia Basketball Officials Association will be present. He will go over various rules and explain how the games will be officiated. He will also be available to answer questions. TEAM REPRESENTATIVES MUST BRING: >>$400 entry fee (unless arrangements have been made); >>Tentative roster (including coach and scorekeeper, and Non-Asian players listed as such); >>Completed individual entry forms. IF A TEAM DOES NOT ATTEND AND/OR DOES NOT CONTACT ME BEFORE THE MEETING TO STATE THAT THEY WILL NOT BE ATTENDING, THAT TEAM WILL BE DROPPED AND THE LEAGUE WILL REFER TO THE WAITING LIST TO REPLACE THE TEAM. If anyone has questions or comments please email [email protected].
DON'T TEST...
The TEAMS
Here are the teams ballin followed by jersey colors: DOPE SQUAD-Grey(?) G STARS-Orange w/ Blue PASSIONS-Grey PIRATES-Red/White RAPTORS-Carolina SHARKS-Navy SKYHIGH-(?) UNITED-Black w/ Blue Let me know of any name changes or changes in jersey color. There shouldn't be any problems with jersey colors (reversibles are not required) except Passions and Dope Squad both wear grey. In that game the 'HOME' team wears their grey uniform and the 'VISITING' team must provide another color FOR THAT GAME. The refs prefer #s on the front and back. (Big on back, small on front is cool). The schedule will be posted after the meeting on Friday Sept 7.
