It's on yall...  Our gym schedule has been approved by Norfolk Public Schools, so let the games begin!!!  Here's the schedule:

        October 27
        November 3, 10, 17, 24
        December 1, 8, 15

The league will ALMOST be the same format as last year:

--  8 team league
--  8 GUARANTEED games (7 Regular season games/ AT LEAST 1 postseason game)
--  Teams will consist of all Asian-Americans, except for 2 spots reserved for players of any race,            background, or heritage
--  20 minute halves with a running clock, except for the last 2 minutes of the second half and                  timeouts

One major change in the league will be the height rule:

--  Players will be no more than 6 feet tall, EXCEPT for 2 players per team who may exceed that limit

The NAABL was highly successful last year because of the quality officiating.  The refs are all Virginia High School League officials and some even officiate Division I college games.  The NAABL and teams that played in the league last year will attest to the fact that professional referees significantly improve game play in an ORGANIZED league.

We are still waiting to hear from the officials about their costs and once we get word we will give you a definite amount for fees per team.  It will definitely be close to the same amount as last years dues ($400) but anticipate it going up from that amount.  Regardless, MOST of the team fees (about 2/3) will be due before the season starts and the rest will be due the second week of the season (Nov 3).  This is to avoid problems encountered last year.  The NAABL was very lenient last year because it was Year One but some of yall just took advantage of us.  Its all good though.  But it aint gonna happen this year.  We need to pay the school and the refs their money on time.

And just to let you know...  after everything is considered -- gym rental, officials, web site updates and reports, statistics updating and calculating, travel and phone expenses, and running around trying to collect dues-- the NAABL's profit is minimal and maybe even not worth all the trouble.  But it is a great thrill to have a league which not only provides excitement for its players and spectators, but reaches its hand out to the rest of the community.  So read the mission statement.  We are about fun, community, and the game of basketball.  Not just turning a quick profit.  Beleedat...

Please contact us if you want to enter a team or would like a copy of the Rules and Regulations mailed to you.  AS ALWAYS if you got any questions, comments, concerns, suggestions or if you think we bullshittin call Ferd ANYTIME (preferably after 9, yall know whats up):  (757)342-5126.  We tired of payin AOL so we are in the midst of getting a new email address (and even a new website).  So just call.  Awright?

Lets do this.
