About the Artist

As a self-taught artist, Katherine began learning to reflect life in art by copying and enhancing photographs, and by copying works of the Old Masters’.  Since the mid-1980's, she has received commissions from real-estate developers and private clients to create portraits of homes.  During these years she has perfected her watercolor layering technique, which provides a depth and subtlety usually not found in watercolors.   Katherine works closely with her clients to determine the best vantage point from which to portray the homes, as well as landscape details to highlight.

Katherine also receives commissions for calligraphy and illumination (decorations surrounding calligraphy) both for wall art and for textiles, and for painting children's items.  Katherine enjoys mixing a variety of media in her works, including pencil, ink, watercolor and gouache.
