Imperfect Tense

Here is the regular conjugations for the imperfect tense. (Note that "ER" and "IR" verbs are conjugated the same, the same is true about the (yo) form and (él/ella/Vd.) forms).

The best part about this tense is that there are only three irregular verbs... and that's it. No rules, stem changers, or fancy concepts to remember. Here they are.

This tense is also part of the past tense (with the preterit tense). Words conjugated in the imperfect tense translate similarly to the preterit tense, but are used at different times in Spanish. (See link below for clarification). Let's translate the verb creer into English: creía - I believed, creías - you believed, creía - he/she/it believed, creíamos - we believed, creíais - you guys believed, and creían - they believed.
