BOOK AND MOVIE REVIEWS
Here are some reviews, totally biased and opinionated, of books I've read and movies I've seen, with recommendations. Enjoy!
- Anonymous Rex - Not Your Ordinary Noir - A private eye down on his luck, looking into a case that leads back to the death of his partner, a case filled with intrigue, mysterious characters, a secret that could change the world, and dinosaurs. Dinosaurs?
- Stardust: Become a Believer - A fairy tale for adults, with fallen stars, murderous witches, a young man of good heart who doesn't know his true heritage, and of course, a happy ending.
- The Man in the Ceiling: An Artist's Faith - When Jules Feiffer writes a book about a boy who wants to grow up to be a cartoonist, you can bet there's more going on than a mere children's story.
- Fridges on the Road: Round Ireland with a Fridge - How drunk would you have to be in order to wager that you'll hitchhike around the circumference of Ireland in a month, with a refrigerator? And how funny will a book about a bet like that be?
- The Evil that People Do: A Review of The Shape of Snakes - One black woman, despised by most of her neighbors in a dilapidated London street, dies in what the police are convinced is a random accident. But one of her neighbors, for reasons of her own, delves deeply into the secrets of the neighborhood to achieve justice - or revenge? - for the dead woman.
- Diving into Books: The Eyre Affair - Enter an alternate reality, where it's possible to become part of the literature you love, and where a special operative, literary division, attempts to thwart the third most evil person in the world.
- When Would You Like to Go Today? A Review of The Anubis Gates Time travel, Egyptians, evil deformed clowns, body-stealing werewolves: what more could a book offer?
- Shrek: An Ogre for All Seasons - Finally, a movie the whole family can enjoy together, though not, perhaps, laughing at the same things.
