THE DIMOND HIGH CHOIR - Page Two

The Rock & Roll Era - continues.

"Rocking Robin", made popular by the Jackson Five in 1958 is another one of the choir favorites.

In 1959 "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", by the Platters came along and was a big hit. Amanda sings the solo part of this also.

The all time hit of 1962, "Surfin'Safari" by the Beach Boys really got the group going. They were relaxed by this time and putting on a good show.

Here is one of the group. Sorry it is not more clear. The lights in back of the band were flashing and the footlights didn't help much.

Here is another one rather close up. Don't they look as if they might be on a surf board?

In 1964 when the Beatles made "Can't Buy Me Love" so popular. The choir did a quick change back into their regular choir uniforms.

Here is a close up of Amanda and is one of my favorite photos of her. She has the voice of an angel - at least to Grandma!

"Under The Boardwalk" was also one of the 1964 hits. It was recorded by the Drifters.

I really can't remember what they were singing here. But I think it was "I heard it Through The Grapevine".

"Respect" came along in 1967 and was recorded by Aretha Franklin. All three of the girls to the left had a solo part. I put an arrow pointing to Amanda.

As the grand finale,we had "I'll Be There", recorded in 1970 by the Jackson Five. The entire choir was on stage for this one. This is just one section of the big choir.
The lady I circled in yellow was our narrator, and was seated at the edge of the stage during the entire concert.
