| There was a young warrior who...no matter what...seemed to have many problems. He had problems gettin things done...he was always interupted by somethin...he didnt get the respect he deserved for his good ideas...no one seemed to want to listen...and most of all...he couldnt find a woman who wanted to stay with him...because of his looks...all the maidens watched him...and that would make anyone jealous. He was always very vocal about his problems and how others were always at the fault of them. He couldnt seem to find the way to make his life better...and this he blamed on everyone and everything he could think of. He finally made the decision to live alone and just play with the women...because he was so sure he would never have one for a wife. It was only a couple of months after he made this decision...that he happened to be out on a hunt...and met a warrior from another tribe. They got to talkin and the other warrior invited him back to his camp to visit and eat. As they sat at the fire that evenin...a certain maiden caught his eye...she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen...her spirit radiated above her...she took his breath away. She smiled at him with a smile that stold his heart...but he had made his decision...or so he thought. He went back to his own camp and tried to forget her...but his heart wouldnt rest...she was in his soul. He ached for her and just knew he would never have her...because his life was so unlucky. After a few days of this...he approached an Elder to ask her advice...how to let what he felt about this woman go. The Elder smiled at him and asked him...are you ready to listen to the truth...and really listen? He thought about that a moment and finally answered her yes...but with the words...I have always listened. She shook her head and told him he had not done so...he was always so busy bein right...that he didnt listen to what others tried to tell him. The young man wanted to be angry...but he had asked her....and he did want to know...so he told her to go ahead. She looked at him with compassion and gently told him this...I have watched you for many years young one...and what I have seen...is your need to make others be at fault for what you do. Though that is true at times...usually its not...and when we allow ourselves to think that way...we do nothing to change it...so all stays the same. With the women...you think of you...not them...and though its right to think of yourself as well...not as the only thing...that will not bring any woman to your fire. If you want things to change in your life young one...the first place to start is with yourself...take responsibility for your actions and you will make your life your own...not someone elses to play with. The young warrior wasnt happy with the words given...but he did start to think about them...and decided he would give it a try. As he worked at it...he came to see that when he focused on what he was doin instead of everythin else around him...he got things done. When he found the way to stay silent...let others speak...he found he learned things...and heard ideas that might just be better than his own. As he started to pay more attention to others...both women and men...he found that they seemed to like him better too. It finally came to be...that he went back to the other camp...spent time with the maiden and took her for his wife. The 3 big lessons that he learned being these...if you give the responsibility of your life over to others...you will live your life at the whims of others...if you cant ever hear the thoughts and ideas of others...you are stuck in a rut of non growth...and no one wants to be with someone that does not see them...only themselves. |
