Irai yawned and stretched her arms as the sun shined through the window.  She sat up, shaking out her hair before swinging her legs out and over the edge of the bed.  She stood up and took a single step before she tripped over Ren's sleeping form. Irai fell onto him, waking him with a groan.

She rolled off him and stood back up, mumbling to herself and adjusting the buttoned shirt that he gave her to wear.  Ren sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes and yawning while he leaned against the bed.  Irai kneeled down in front of his half asleep form and smiled.

"I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to wake you like I did."

Ren shook his head clear.  "It's alright."  he yawned as he stood in front of her in his shorts and t-shirt.  Ren continued to stretch himself for a bit while Irai stood back up, watching him for a bit before her stomache made protest.  She blushed when she realized that she was hungry.

Ren grinned at her.  " Hungry I take it.   Let's go get you something to eat....... "  He paused for a moment, thinking to himself.  After a while, he looked back up at her.

              "What exactly would you eat?"

Irai pondered for a moment.  "Bread or any fruit you got, unless you got any bacon or any other meat I can nibble on for now."

Ren nodded, leading her through the kitchen and to a room with a large box with a window on it as well as a table and a few couchs and chairs.  Ren pointed to one of the couchs before he headed back into the kitchen. Irai laid down on the couch, laying her head against one of the pillows while the sounds of Ren working in the kitchen could be heard.

After what seemed an eternity to her stomache,  Ren came out with a plate and a bowl of food in his hands.  He laid the plate in front of her before he took a seat near her on the couch and began eating his food.  She looked at him for a bit before her stomache told her to look at her food.

On her plate was three strips of bacon as well as an apple and some toast.  Her gaze switched between her plate and his bowl, where all he ate was some dry food.  She wanted to protest, but her stomache took over her pride as she began to eat.

"This is delicious."  she told him as she stuffed food into her mouth.  It wasn't long after when she finished, the core of the apple the only thing remaining of her breakfast.  Irai sighed happily, her stomache satisfied for now as Ren continued eating.   Whistling started to sound from the kitchen when Ren put his breakfast down before he returned back to the kitchen.  When he came out again, he had two cups of tea with his as he gave her one of the cups.

Unlike the rest of her breakfast, Irai sipped the tea casually, enjoying the sweet flavor that filled her mouth.  Ren touched a button on what he called the remote as she drank her tea slowly.   The large glass on the box projected an image of art mixxed in with voices that sounded strange in an effect to make the 'cat' and 'bird' funny.  Ren referred it to Saturday morning cartoons, but all Irai saw it as was an insult to the cat, because the cat could never get the bird no matter what.

After she finished her tea, Ren turned the box off.  He glanced at her for a moment before taking both his and her dishes back to the kitchen and washing them.   She wanted to help him and no be such a burden on him, but she was clueless as to how many of the things in his house worked.  Many times he would explain the 'basic' concepts to her, but all it would do was confuse her more.

Ren returned once again, still noticably half asleep.
If I rolled around like he did, I probably would be tired the next morning also she thought to herself.  He gazed at her for a moment before entering the doorway to another room, turning his head back to her to speak.

"I'm gonna take a bath and try to wake up."

Irai stood up and walked on over to the room Ren was outside of. As she gazed inward at the green tiled floor, she managed to locate where the tub was in the room.   It was different from the rivers or lakes she would normally bathe in, but what caught her amazement was that there was no water in it right now.   Irai had not seen any place in the house to get the water, so how was he gonna get the water?

Ren grinned at her as he turned two of the three knobs near the tub.  Instantly, one of the pipes began to pump water into the tub, where it drained at the bottom of the tub through a plug.  Ren would check the water constantly before closing the plug and letting the water fill the tub up.   How it worked just amazed her as Ren stared at her for a moment.  After a while she realized that he was waiting for her.

Without a secont thought, Irai began to back out of the room.  She was embarrassed once again.

"Sorry....... but could you show me how to work it when you are done?  I would like to take a bath soon...  I am sure that I stink right now."

Ren smiled at her.  " You can take mine if you want."

Irai didn't even bother to say thanks before she was unbuttoning her shirt.  After she removed it, she tossed it aside before easing herself in the tub.  The water felt warm against her fur as she purred happily, closing her eyes as she let the sounds of the water pouring into the tub fill her ears.  The relaxing odor that sat in the air furthered her relaxation as Ren coughed..

Irai had nearly forgotten that he was still with her in the bathroom.  She blushed furiously, only having enough sense to pull the curtain in front of the tub so that Ren would not see her.  He had already turned his back to her, but she knew that it wouldn't last long.

Irai watched the tub fill up for a while until she saw Ren's arms reach behind the curtain to turn the knobs.  As he did, the water stopped flowing from the pipe from which it came from.  Irai let herself sink into the tub until only her head was above the water.

"Knock on the door or yell for me if you need me," said Ren as he left the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. She was now alone to enjoy her bath.  Never before had she felt such security while bathing in a river or lake, because whenever she did, she would run a risk of being captured or killed.

            But things were different now.

                         ----------------------------------------------

Irai smiled at Ren as he came out of the bathroom, a towel around his neck.  She had taken more of his clothes to wear as her tail swayed lazily around from out of her pants.  Ren wore a white tee shirt as well as similar pants to her, to which he referred to as khakis.   He smiled at her, shaking his head free of what little water was left before sitting down next to her.

" Do you want to go outside?  I don't intend on keeping you in forever like a prisoner. "

Irai nodded, pausing for a moment.  "Can I get my swordbreakers back?"

"Yeah, but you will have to be careful when you have them."

Ren got up and motioned for Irai to follow.  Irai slowly stood before she began following him back to his room.  In there was a backpack, no doubt his, as well as her sheaths right next to the backpack.  Ren took the sheaths and handed them to her.  At first she struggled, but Irai finally managed to put the sheaths on; a noticable bulge in her pants where she wore them.

Ren slinged the backpack over his shoulder, smiling at her.  Irai didn't feel as helpless now, mainly since she had her weapons with her.   But there was something about him that took the fear of being in a new world away from her.  She wasn't afraid to be with him.

As if he was her guardian angel.
