"Stop it Ren, you'll die!" screamed Dylina frantically.  Her mind raced frantically as she saw Margrimm's  lips  begin to chant.  She jumped at him, arms extended to him, only to take a fist to her jaw as she was knocked to the ground once again.  A wave of dizziness caused her to hold  her head as her eyesight blurred for a moment.  When they refocused,  her gaze  settled on Ren's form as he walked to Margrimm without a stumble.

He's almost done with the incantation.  Dylina sat where she was, waiting as a small beam of moonlight shined on Margrimm's hand while a ball of energy formed in it.  With  each passing moment, the ball slowly grew and grew, until it finally stopped at the size of a werewolf's  fist.

"Say goodbye to this world you fool!"  shouted Margrimm as he threw the ball of energy at Ren.  Her body moved to stop Margrimm's movements, but  she knew that she was too late.   The ball started on a dead on course for Ren as time  itself seemed to slow down to her.  Ren made no  indication of moving  from the ball's path as he stopped, watching the ball carefully.

With a single hand, Ren deflected the ball into the air as it sped into the  sky, exploding harmlessly shortly after.  Margrimm's jaw hit the ground as he stood there as everyone,  including Dylina, stared at Ren in  disbelief. Burn marks were clearly  visible on his hand, but that was the extend of the damage done as he  resumed his advance toward Margrimm.  Dylina slowly rose, her  tail swaying back and forth slowly as she continued to observe Ren carefully.

Ren stopped in reach of his enemy as he displayed his burnt palm to Margrimm.  " Is this all you could manage?"

Margrimm slapped the palm out of his face,  only to  receive  Ren's  elbow in his gut.   Ren spun around  as he struck again with his  other  elbow before moving low and sweeping the furre's footing out from under him.  He  then  stared at Margrimm for a moment longer before he brought his foot down on his kneecap as bone crunched under Ren's heel.  Without wasting another moment, he crushed his opponent's other kneecap before he stepped  away, staring intently at Margrimm who held his knees in pure agony.

"You...  what in the hell are you?"

Ren merely pointed his burnt palm at him again.  "Yield."

"And what if I say no?"

"Then I'll end your suffering for good."

Margrimm paused for a moment.  " You make it sound like that death is a better option."

         "Depends on your pride."

" ..... I refuse to  yield to a human..... but it's clear to me that you aren't human, so I shall yield."

Ren turned to the crowd, walking slowly as Margrimm  began chanting once again.  Infuriated, Dylina picked him up by the throat, cutting the furre off from any further speech.  He clutched her wrist in an effort to make he let go, but her hold  remained firm.  She  merely cursed softly at him before she finally threw him to the ground.

" You are  absolutely pathetic,  you know that?    Trying to attack him from behind.... and you have ruined your clothes. "

Dylina grabbed him by his  foot and dragged Margrimm and he cursed at her in  utter pain.   Clothes ripped even more as she pulled the crippled man to her father.  The beaten furre tried to stand once his legs were released, but no pressure could be put on his knees.  Eventually he was carried off disgracefully while Ren examined his hand, waiting.

          "So who is next?"

Dylina watched the crowd carefully as everyone froze in the crowds.   No one dared to move a muscle while Ren waited patiently.  He merely shrugged, unsurprised by the reaction.

"I guess I win after all..."

Ren fell to his knees before he collapsed to the ground.
He must have gone all out after he got beaten.  I owe him... Dylina glanced around nervously before she walked up to Ren's body and picked him up, pulling him over her shoulder.  She carried him back to house, her father trailing as the crowd eventually dispersed back to their homes.  Her father opened up the door for her before she walked upstairs to her room, laying Ren down on her bed before she looked at his wounds once again.

         Dylina sighed.
Tonight looks like its gonna be a long night.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Dylina woke up as she felt the movement under her left arm.  She glaced at Ren and watched as he shifted in his sleep.
At least he's still alive.... She pondered for a moment.  I must have overworked myself.  I better look at myself in the mirror  and see what I look like.   Slowly, she left the bed, making sure she didn't disturb her patient while she went to her mirror.

She looked at her dress in her mirror, mumbling to herself as she gazed at the blood spots upon the silk.  Dylina looked at her face for a moment, touching her cold cheeks as her memories started to form what happened during the fight.   The memories of being half wolf shot through her mind as she glanced nervously behind her.   Seeing nothing, she sighed in relief, but she brought her hand to where her tail sprouted from just to be sure.

Dylina nearly shrieked when she turned to the bed and saw Ren's eyes open and looking at her.  She removed her hand from its location on her body and blushed before she walked to his side.  He sat up slowly, the sheets falling from their spot, displaying Ren's completely bandaged upper body.  He held his head with his good hand and closed his eyes, mumbling to himself.

"Man...... I feel like I was pancaked by an 18-wheeler."

"...... lay down.   You are not allowed out of bed for now.   You had numerous cuts and a few breaks, so feel lucky that you can move as much as you can.  I could not tell if you were bleeding or not with that on."

Ren laid down compliantly, chuckling to himself.   "That was the whole point."

She took a seat on the bed, looking down at him.  "So... how do you feel?"

"Been better I guess.   Been worse, that's for sure."

"Well what did you expect?  I still can not believe that you won the fight."

Ren turned his gaze to the ceiling as he pulled himself under the covers again.  Silence filled the room until he focused back on her, smiling.

          "So what happens now?"

"Well, had you been a competitor, we would go through a marriage ceremony, but since you represented my father, I will be spared from marriage for another year.  Then another competition, and so on and so forth until I marry or my father dies.  You on the other hand are stuck in bed until you have completely healed.  I will not let you leave this house while you still wear those bandages."

          "What if I sneak out?"

"I'll hunt you down and make you return back."

"Sounds fair enough.  Been a long while since I've been in a bed anyway."

Dylina ran her hand through her hair.   She looked down at her  other hand on her lap, nervousness building up in her body.
I don't know how to ask him...  and I still don't know for sure what the answer is.  She closed her eyes and sighed before she opened them and looked into Ren's eyes.

"Why..... why did you help me?"

Ren sat up once again, smiling.  "That's hard to explain...."

          "Please, explain it to me."

" Well..... I really don't know.   You seemed to be in need of help when you ran into me, and you've needed my help since.  I don't know why I'd need a reason to help anyway."

           "But.... I don't understand..."

She let out an involentary yawn  as he grinned at her.   He put his bandaged hand on her shoulder as Ren slid his legs out from under the covers.  Dylina pushed him back down, shaking her head as she pulled his legs back under the covers.

Ren shook his head.  "You need to sleep."

"You need bedrest yourself." countered Dylina with a yawn.

"So how will you manage to get your sleep and keep me in bed eh?"

Dylina slipped under the covers and laid down on his body, using his chest for a pillow.   Ren blinked at her as she made herserlf comfortable.  After a few moments of shifting,  she smiled up at him before she closed her eyes.

           "I'll manage."
