PEAKPARK WALKS
Established in 1953, this is England's first National Park.
Peak Park offers walks at a high quality; trails, footpaths and rights of way are abundant. You can easily make your own walks using the Ordnance Survey Park map 1:25.000 and or buy a walking guide at one of the many visitor centers.
You may also download walks from the links given here below.
Accommodation
The Southern Peak or White Peak, offers many river dales (valeys) as the Dove Dale and Lathkill Dale, while the Northern Peak or Dark Peak is rugged with moors and extensive views.
Choose a walk with a pub somewhat half way which is very easy as there are so many trails and so many ... pubs.
A good walk for example starts from the Minninglow car park (picture left in winter 2009) to Youlgreave and back, it is about 3 hours one way and there are 4 different ways to get there, once there you have a choice of 3 pubs to get a decent meal and pint.
Around Alstonefield (The George) and Milldale (refreshments in summer)there are lots of shorter walks.
From Baslow the Frogatt and White Edge offer excellent edge walking with extensive views.
