This set collects almost everything the Supremes made. along with a complete album and single discography and a good essay about the supremes. this collection is the definitive to get if you wanna get to know the Supremes before, during and after Diana Ross. I think the Supremes could've been big even without Diana because of Mary and Flo. I didn't like how they split the name after flo left. Diana Ross and the Supremes sounds very stupid because it's a group effort to make this badn and they tried to push Diana in the spolight while the other two had to put up with it.
Ok back to the box set. There are many songs that I like on this box set and there will be many more also. I made my mom a cd from the songs that she liked by them and she loved it. Some songs sound very dated but for the most part the others are classics. There is a bonus cd along with this set but I didn't get it. I guess it's just a live cd of the Supremes at the Copa i think. There is although a couple of live tracks in the set that I love. There is the "Group Introduction" which goes right into "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You" that I thought was hilarious. It has a little fun between Diana and Flo which I think sets that stage at how they acted towards another. This is how id goes
Mary: "Don't nobody care about little old me."
Diana: "Did she say little" (snickers)
I don't know what happens here but the audience starts laughing
Diana "I'll Have u know thin is in" (Audience Laughter)
Flo "And honey fat is where it's at" (Audience laughs louder)
This I thinks showcases the way Flo And Diana felt about each other before they kicked Flo out and replaced her with Cindy Birdsong. Anyway this collection is great. The last disc showcases the period after Diana left and there are some pretty good songs on there. So if you're a motown crazy kid like me then pick this up along with many other box sets by Motown Artists.
