| OK I'm gonna try something new with this album and soon with others. I'm gonna tellu about the songs and what I like or dislike about them ok. so here goes. |
| 1. Fantasy Here is a light pop song the kind you would expect from Mariah and this video was very cool. It has her riding a rollercoaster while singing. And shows other colorful characters in the video like the little black girl who is just cute! The lyrics aren't bad and the beat is infectious! She samples a track from the Tom Tom Club which is very cute and danceable. The remix for this song is very different, very long but good. 2. Underneath The Stars This is a very light slow jam. The thing i love about this song is that I can literally see myself and the one I love rolling in the grass and playing in the rain listening to this song. Just hope I can find the one I want to love. 3. One Sweet Day (featuring Boyz II Men) Here is a nice ode to someone who has passed away. This song helped me out when a friend of mine died and I listened to it while walking to her funeral and singing along. This song was a number one for about 12 weeks or more and I think it is Mariah's swan song. The lyrics are very touching and the melody will have u humming along way after it's done. So i dedicate this song to all of my friends and family who have passed on. :-) 4. Open Arms Here is Mariah's cover song. Originally done by Journey and a hit in the 80's this song was a very good slow song with superb vocals by Steve Perry. It kinda sounded wimpy but with Steve's vocals it pulled through and made it to the top ten. Mariah takes this song to church! While being backed by The famous Kelly Price and her sisters they wind this song into a testimony that she'll be waiting for her lover with open arms! When the end comes u just wanna cry. 5. Always Be My Baby When I first heard this song I knew it was going to be a hit! I'm not lying, right when the first few chords began to play I fell in love with this song. My cousin had just bought it and I played this song OUT! Then when the verse comes in and I knew what she was talking about I fell head over heels in love with this song. I saw the video and it was exaclty what i expected. It was shot at Camp Mariah and it is so cute. 6. I Am Free This song is very gospel kind of song and it is very cool to listen to Mariah harmonize with herself. I especially love the ending. This wouls be good to listen to when you're feeling held down and no one will help you out. 7. When I Saw You This is a very good "Mariah ballad" as you know Mariah loves ballads and so this is one of her good ones. I personally love the ending where she ad libs and it sounds cool. I always try to emulate this kind of adlibbing when i sing. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't 8. Long Ago This is a very funky song. The bass line is kicking and the lyrics are cool she talks about how it used ot be with her man but that was LONG AGO. And it still haunts her to this day. This would be a good song for someone who has broken up with someone who meant the world to them. It'll make u wanna cry and think about them. 9. Melt Away This another ballad and it is good but i usually skip over this one. I mean after you've heard a couple in a row it kinda gets boring. But if I put the cd on shuffle then i can apreciate every song on the cd. Especially this one. 10. Forever This one, to me, sounds very much like Christmas. I think it's the intro. But it's a very good one where Mariah actually opens ur throat and SINGS. None of that lil girl sounding voice on this track ha ha. I like this one, but like MELT AWAY the ballads can get a lil boring. 11. Daydream Interlude (Fantasy Sweet Dub Mix) Now this is my kind of song! I love club mixes. This one is just a dub, which means that it is just music with a lil bit of vocals. When i heard the full remix of Fantasy this mix is at the end of the song. The mix is like 10 min. long so if you like dancing that long then get her Remixes double disc it's worth it. All in all i love this song the most and play it when i wanna dance. 12. Looking In This was a bit of a change for Mariah. This was the first song on one of her cds that she actually got serious and let us know what she thought about being a star. This song shows that all that glitters is not gold and that sometimes that stars are feeling a lil worn out and drained from being loved all of their fans. But I think to continue in that vein is good to be loved by so many people. Let's face it, it would be wonderful to have people grabbing at you and calling your name. I should know I always hear it at Karoke. But that's nothing to what Mariah encounters. People waiting outside her hotel, calling her, stalking her. I bet it can get a bit overwhelming and take a toll on someone's routine. So i salute all of the Artists that does this because of the fans. That's hard work. You try it once. All in all i love this album there are some very good songs and some that are alright. Mariah did some serious soul searching and pulled out a good album. |
