| Around For A Long Time You've had a bad life You always said so Even though your mom wasn't there You made sure we'd know About the dangers of this world And what could happen to us You made me go to church Although I didn't want to You knew it was right for me Then the tables turned I felt like the parent When you were with the bottle I was making dinner I took care of your addiction By helping you when you needed it When we got older You still didn't want To see us waste our lives Now as adults We see why And we're glad To call you mom And we hope and pray That God will keep you around For a long time By Larry Francisco Dedicated to my mom Louella Douglas I wrote this shortly after I heard the song "Dear Mama" by Tupac. I loved it and thought I should write my mom a poem also. I gave it to her and she loved it. She also loves that song. My mom is so cool. She knew that i was gay even when I was young. She didn't like it at first but know she's warming up to it. She even teases me about getting a boyfriend. She was always there when people were saying stuff about me. I could always talk to her and tell her how i felt. Every now and then we fight but hey who doesn't. I always try to tell her I love her though. |
