The Henrys In Thailand
Esan Baptist Mission

Esan Baptist Mission is centered in North East Thailand (Esan) near Vientiane, the capitol of Laos.

The purpose of Esan Baptist Mission is threefold: 1) to evangelize, 2) plant local New Testament churches, and 3) teach the Bible.

EVANGELISM

Our evangelistic work is centered in 1) The Gospel Light Radio Program (see below for more info); 2) Witnessing one on one; 3) enrolling students in a simple salvation correspondence course; and 4) handing out tracts in mass. (Note: We had to put the radio ministry on hold after 7 months of broadcasting due to the lack of support. John Henry is scheduled to return to the States in October to raise support for this important ministry. Please pray!)

CHURCH PLANTING:

At the present we have three mission works.
1. Word Baptist in a cluster of villages know as the City of the Chief Dragon on the Laotian border. We have 9 members here.
2. Word Baptist in Nong Kai where we have 13 members.
3. Word Baptist in Udon. There are 8 members in Udon. (None of these works are organized into churches as of yet, so all 30 members are technically members of Bedford Baptist Temple in Bedford, Texas)

ESAN BAPTIST BIBLE INSTITUTE

In addition to teaching and preaching in the regular services we also minister through Esan Baptist Bible Institute. Several Preachers have received training through the Bible school. John Henry is now teaching 2 pastors regularly.

Our correspondence school has processed over 5,000 lessons for more than 400 students.

In addition we do teaching over the Internet.

GOSPEL LIGHT RADIO PROGRAM

We are currently raising funds for this important ministry.

The Lord enabled us to begin broadcasting an half hour (6:30 to 7 PM) program 7 days a week on 1 October 2000.

This was truly a faith ministry, because we had no funds for it. Lighthouse Baptist in Lake Mary, Florida gave for the first month's broadcast, and other churches helped and we were able to broadcast for 7 months. We stopped at the end of April 2001.

Please pray with us that we might be able to reestablish this Gospel ministry to the lost of Communist Laos.

The radio signal carried into 4 provincial capitols and deep into Laos. We are only about 20 miles from the Laotian Capitol. (Note: Missionaries are forbidden in Laos, but we can get the Word in by way of radio).

We estimate that we have a potential listening audience of over two million of which at least 500,000 are in the 5 provincial capitols listed below.

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Roman 10:14-15, 17)

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:8)
