Since late 2001, the progressive-funk-metal-alt-hard-rock sound of Non Zero Sum has cultivated many crops throughout the Seattle-Metro area with little time and effort.

While having been invited to perform in the "2001 Warped-Tour, Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands" at "The Gorge" in George, WA, and performing for crowds of 200-300 people in venues like, "I-Spy" or "The Crocodile", Non Zero Sum has developed an intense live show that is captivating to any audience. After recording a 6-song EP in early 2003, which is above all a fine demonstration of musical diversity, they would independently distribute over 200+ copies to friends and fans by the end of the year. Plans of recording a full-length album are underway as they are consistantly writing new material, but no date has been set.

Although the members of Non Zero Sum were raised in musical environments and discovered their talents young, it wouldn't be until 1998 when Joel Johns, Ryan Summers, and Jeff Johns started jamming; then decided to form a band. From then on, their undeniable chemistry would rapidly develop as many vocalists and even a second guitarist had come and gone over a three-year period. The missing link was found one year later in 2002 when Jeff, Ryan, and Joel met Tony Horton; (former frontman for the Billings, MT based "Krunk") who then would complete the line-up becoming the long-anticipated voice of Non Zero Sum.

Overall influences include Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Incubus, Tool, Deftones, System of a Down, Primus, Suicidal Tendencies, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and 311 to name a few. Many fans have compared Non Zero Sum's sound to such artists as their music appeals to such a wide variety of musical tastes; yet it remains to be most unlike anything out there. A quote from a Garageband.com review of "Collection Lady" says,
"This song is really interesting from a musician's standpoint, but it's also something radio listeners would like!"

In conclusion, Non Zero Sum is a unique collaboration of musical design. With nothing standing in their way, they will continue stomping through the Northwest scene- making sure to leave tracks as they go.
