San Francisco got the shit rocked out of it on Nov. 20th 2003 9:30-10:30pm
Nominal and Abysmal Terror played at The Curve bar in SF yesterday.  We all did the only thing we know how to do: freak out some squares.  People complained that it was "just too damn loud."
Well done... to all of us...well done.

Abysmal Terror has a show at Jim Dandy's this Sat.  Go to it.

Family Tree gig
I don't mean to brag and i don't mean to boast but the show this past Saturday in Hollister was good enough to have on toast. The most fun Nominal has had in awhile dealing with shows. There was a crowd. There was a video recorder. There was moshing and people moving to the sounds produced. If you didn't show up, there was a good show to see some new good bands.
Designed by Fall was first to get the crowds' feet wet and they soaked them well. There was enough to moshing and movement within the band and crowd to roll over into the next band. Good show on their belt, especially for being their second show as a band of two months time.
Abysmal Terror was next and before they began Matt had his mindset on watching the mass move to his Abysmal Terror sounding grindcore. For any AT fan it would be clear as fuck that Matt had a new drumkit and cymbals as well as a full lineup of members. They started off a tit rough but quickly got their shit together and pulled it off. Not that they were smooth (mind that they ARE labeling their music as "GRINDcore") but they made that noise penetrate every single last bloody ear with their cataclysmic doom music. They were selling merchandise for fairly acceptable prices so no surprise if they sold some of their apparel and recordings.
The Insurgents, a band that's been attempting to set a show with us for quite some time now becuz of their pride and excitement to finally show off what they have, had... let's say it was an experience. They are not afraid of talking in front of the class that's for damned sure and they ran into a few piddling shoestring problems that affected their set. It was good to finally see them play but not so as to see them talk so much during their songs. When you are new to fans it's like making a first impression- you don't want to talk when your being expected to PLAY, as you are a band.
Nominal was in tune and down tuned for whatever would come of it. Our setlist was balanced and had all the right positioning to be called strong. Grrr.... we started our set with 1 of our new songs, entitled "Got Me." It was bitchin and got us all on the same step for further stomping. Further on we plowed thru with songs from our demo "Everything Appears Nominal" and other unincluded songs. We ve got so many songs that we just pick and choose from... its nice! Also, it gives us flexibility to our demands. The set ended with "I'm Being Killed Tonight." After a fair amount of feedback, enflicting the entertained in front of us, the drums kicked in with the 1/4 time measure alone that introduced the slow destructively harmonic riffs Mike, Josh, and Chris provided, respectively. Havent played that song live in awhile. Hope you liked it.... all.
p.s.>if anyone would like to write on Los Dryheavers set then do so by erasing this text and doing your own thing. I wasnt there to see it...
