THANKS to everyone who came to the MEPA Scoping Meeting

Everyone, Heartfelt THANKS to everyone who came to the MEPA Scoping Meeting at the base on Tuesday night! We know that everyone who couldn't make it was there in spirit. The night was OURS. It was good to see people from so many towns representing so many points of view. When Rockland activists were fighting a proposed Walgreens a couple of years ago, town officials told them, "Give us something to hang our hat on." They needed public demonstration of strong opposition to Walgreens so they would have additional concrete reasons to deny the permits. Perhaps the MEPA spokesman was doing the same thing Tuesday night.

We showed MEPA that there is great public concern about the proposed plan. We gave them plenty to "hang their hat on." Please remember that attending the MEPA meeting isn't a substitute for submitting written comment. We all still need to do that before the deadline of September 8.

You MUST address your letter to a certain address. That address is:

Secretary of Environmental Affairs
Executive Office of Environmental Affairs
ATTENTION: MEPA Office

(see: http://www.magnet.state.ma.us/mepa/em-homep.htm#sub )

You MUST reference the CASE NUMBER for the SSTTDC's ENF. The case number is:

EOEA 11085R

Go to the COMPARE website and click on the "What the heck is the ENF...?" link if you need complete info. Thank you all again for responding so strongly to the MEPA Meeting Call to Action! We have won one more battle in the fight to keep the megamall out of the South Shore.
