Grateful thanks to everyone who participated in our Rockland flyer drop this
past weekend! We had a fantastic turnout; over 15 teams of 2 or more people
each braved the winter cold and worked to spread the word to Rockland voters.
Marylou's News of Rockland donated coffee and all the fixin's, and Jim Weydt
of Weymouth provided us with handwarmers to put in our pockets and mittens.
Thanks to all who were able to help.
COMPARE and Seth Kaplan of the Conservation Law Foundation made an appearance
at the Rockland Selectmen's meeting last night. After a 2-hour presentation
by the SSTTDC and Mills, we presented our side of the issue and gave it our
best shot. Grateful thanks to Seth for his time and for his usual eloquence.
Thank you to Rockland Selectman Carole Mooney who voiced many of our concerns
from the Selectmen's bench, spent a lot of time attending meetings and
talking to people about the issue, and who urged Rockland voters to vote NO
MALL, NO ON QUESTION 2 on Rockland's December 9 referendum. Thank you to the
familiar faces of COMPARE members in the audience who witnessed the
proceedings, spoke up to state their views, and provided emotional support to
COMPARE's speaker.
Our work in Rockland is not over. We need help making phonecalls to Rockland
voters this week. If you can help with phonecalls, please call Judy Kelley at
(781) 749-6348 and volunteer.
We will be manning the polling places in Rockland with MY VOTE: NO MALL signs
this coming Saturday, December 9, from 10am to 7pm. If you can spend an hour
or two holding a sign to increase our visibility at the polls, call Don Pace
at (781) 337-5178.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
