The death worms crawling across his skin exploded into thousands of tiny ice particles. Still hundreds more fired out of the holes they had chewed into his coat like rifle bullets; only to meet the same fate. The few that had managed to bury completely under his skin survived; Kennek’s miraculous healing had sealed the wounds behind them. Even though it was night here, the most spectacular exhibit of light he could possibly imagine displayed before him: Billions and billions of tiny points of light swirling in a spiral of color. But the coldness here was incomprehensible; so absolute, so biting it felt like he was being ripped apart. The pain was maddening as his body continuously healed the frozen and damaged tissue only to have it boil and refreeze fractions of a second later. He frantically tried to cast a spell, but no matter how much force he tried there was no sound. Even bearing the pain of snapping his fingers produced absolutely nothing. The silence was absolute. Kennek panicked. Silently screaming in agony, he thrashed about wildly grasping at anything within reach. Unfortunately for Kennek the next thing within reach was well over 100,000 light years away. |
