Friendship Rare

I know that I am truly blessed
And wholeheartedly aware
I would never have survived so long
If you had not been there.

When I have been defeated
Almost crippled by despair
It surely would have killed me
If you had not been there.

But it’s when I’ve had good fortune
I’ve been lucky you were there
To celebrate my victories
An occurrence sometimes rare.

And for every ounce of confidence
That’s helped me muddle through
I issue special brownie points
And credit them to you.

You allow me to express myself
In the way I communicate best
With words in print not meant to sound
