North of Manali over the 13,050 ft high Rohtang Pass is the district of Lahaul-Spiti. This region virtually receives no rainfall as it falls in the rain shadow. Lahaul at an average altitude of 8000 ft (2438m) forms the upper catchments of the Chandrabagha or Chenab River. It is here between the two rivers of Chandra and Bhagha that most challenging peaks rise to give climbers great mountaineering opportunities. This range the highest here is also known as the Chandrabagha range and its peaks have been classified as CB with numbers. ladakh, zanskar, himalaya, western himalaya, jeep, tour, safari, trekking, india, adventure, sports, skiing, snowboarding, river rafting, mountain, expeditionFor instance one of the most popular peaks here is the CB 13, which rises at the head of the Dhaka glacier. There are other ranges like the Moulkila and Karang also offering peaks for climbing. Ladakh too has its ranges with peaks that are open for climbing to avid Summiteers. The Manali region too has its share of challenging mountain peaks that though being slightly lower in height that the peaks in Lahaul and Spiti. However we need at least 4 months prior notice before you can attempt the desired peak as permission has to be procured from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and this takes time. Each peak has a licence fee charged by the IMF who also sends a Liaison Officer who will accompany our mountaineering staff along with your group.
